[Apparently in my quest to get to Thanksgiving dinner on time, I forgot to hit publish. Happy belated Thanksgiving everyone!]
First of all, Happy Thanksgiving to all my lovely bloggies out there. I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday free of family drama and full of yummy food!
This morning I woke up with one thing on my mind for breakfast. Those delicious looking cheese and herb scones over on Rachel’s blog. Thanks to my boyfriends promise of fresh, homemade whipped cream to go along with my homemade pumpkin pies and a late night, mildly intoxicated trip to the 24-hour Jewel I had everything I needed to throw these together….except butter.
Thanks to my pie making shenanigans I only had 4 tablespoons of butter left. Now, I’m a little bit crazy, but I am not crazy enough to go to the grocery store on Thanksgiving morning so I had one hope – the CVS two blocks from my door. Thankfully, CVS came to my rescue and my savory scone breakfast was on the horizon!
I didn’t have everything I needed to make Rachel’s exact recipe so I made my own substitutions. Instead of 4oz of Gryuere I used 2 oz of sharp cheddar and 2 oz of the smoked cheese blend from Trader Joe’s, and I subbed out the chives for some dried basil. Otherwise it was game on.
Let me just say how awesome these scones are. They’re savory and satisfying. They were the perfect meal to prep for the Thanksgiving feast!
I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday!!!
