Another Weight Loss Update (and that time I decided to become a Beachbody Coach)

Back in January, I wrote a post reflecting on my weight loss, shifting my mind-set, and refocusing my efforts on weight loss, and I figured it’s been 7 months now so, it’s probably time for an update.

Overall, things have been going really well albeit very, very slowly. Honestly, I’m okay with the weight loss being slow. I’ve always lost weight very slowly, and I knew when I set the goal of 155lbs by April that it was an extremely aggressive goal. From January to March I dropped about 10lbs, and then sort of bounced around losing and gaining the same 3 – 5 pounds. That was a combination of vacations (We went to Mexico for a week in April with my family, and spent two weeks in Alaska for our honeymoon in June.) special occasions (mah birfday!), and honestly, a complete lack of focus for the two weeks between Memorial Day and our honeymoon in mid-June.

Since we’ve gotten back from Alaska, I’ve refocused my efforts (again,) and I feel like I’m killing it for the first time in a while. Which leads me to what I’m really going to talk about here – the thing  that’s really helped me  refocus is that I got on board the Beachbody train.

It actually kind of pains me to admit this because I’ve been a huge skeptic of all things Beachbody for so long. I tried Insanity a couple years ago with some friends, and I made it about half-way through the first work-out before I said, “Nope. This is insane (hardy, har-har). I’m not interested.” And Shakeology was pretty much out of the question. To begin with I’m super picky about my protein powders and supplements; I think 99.9% of them either taste disgusting, have a horrible texture, or worse, both. Plus I’ve never been able to go more than 3 or 4 days having smoothies/ shakes for breakfast before I wanted “real food” instead. I tried Body By Vi shakes before, and that lasted about a minute. Plus, that shit ain’t cheap, yo. I’d even done a Facebook challenge group once and that was next to useless.

But after we got back from vacation in April, I was starting to look for something to mix things up. So when a friend from high school (friend of friends? acquiantance? I dunno what to call her. We’ve never been close but we’ve got overlapping friends and attend some of the same events…yeah, this totally isn’t relevant, I know.)  started posting about her challenge groups on Facebook, I decided to bite. I knew Insanity wasn’t for me, but Piyo sounded interesting. And the Piyo challenge pack was actually on special that month which meant, I could buy (try) Shakeology, and get Piyo for $10.

I went for it, and  much to my own surprise, I was hooked pretty quickly – even on the Shakeology. With the exception of when we were on our honeymoon, I’ve had Shakeology almost every day. I was such a fan Shakeology and Piyo, I actually decided to become a coach like two weeks in. (This is almost equally as surprising as my loving Shakeology since I have basically never even briefly considered getting into a “network marketing” organization when opportunities have been presented – even for products I really love.)

So there you have it (talk about burying the lead here) I am now officially a Beachbody Coach. I do plan on reviewing products here as I use them (I’ll be posting about the 3 Day Refresh next week.), but no worries, I definitely don’t intend on this becoming a full-blown sales and marketing blog. To begin with, that is so not my personality considering I took me like 2 months to even post about it to begin with! But also, 50% of my decision to become a coach was the product discount outweighing the cost of being a coach. If I make some extra spending money, awesome, but I’m not looking to get rich off this venture.

That said, if you have questions or are interested in trying any of the products (especially Shakeology – I can send samples), let me know! You can reach out to me via email [runninginchucks at gmail dot com], the contact me page here on the blog, or my websites links above. I really am super happy with everything I’ve tried, and I’m even considering giving Insanity a second chance…maybe.
