Lightlife Review + Giveaway

I was provided an opportunity try a few Lightlife products for free. As always all opinions, good, bad, and ulgy, are my own.

Did you know September was National Breakfast Month? I had no idea either until the folks at Lightlife approach me with an opportunity to review some of their breakfast products! To be totally honest, I don’t know how I didn’t know last month was National Breakfast Month because I absolutely love breakfast. The boy and I love breakfast so much we’re serving breakfast for dinner at our wedding. Seriously. (And one of these days, I’ll write a wedding related post.)

So when Lightlife approached me, I knew this was pretty much the perfect opportunity for me. I’m always looking for ways to go meatless, but breakfast meats (bacon and sausage) have been the hardest for me to replace. Some of the meatless sausage patties I’ve tried have been okay, but I’ve yet to find a bacon alternative (facon, as I call it) I was willing to eat again…until now.

smart bacon review

The Lightlife Smart Bacon is actually really good. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still not bacon, but it’s a solid substitute. The texture reminded me of really, really cripsy cooked bacon. The flavor was smoky and bacon-like. And compared to real bacon, you can’t beat the nutritionals. Two slices of the Lightlife Smart bacon give you the same amount of protien as a single slice of regular bacon with half the calories and a third of the fat! (Plus, one slice of the Lightlife bacon is 0 PointsPlus so I’m totally down with adding a slice to my normal breakfast sandwich!) This is definitely a product I will keep buying.

The Smart Bacon is soy based so anyone that has a soy allergy  should probably steer clear. They’re also not gluten free. Neither of those things are problems for me though so no complaints here.

I haven’t gotten a chance a chance to try their breakfast sausage yet since Meijer is the only store in my area, and it’s pretty rare that I shop there. (All of the Meijer stores are juuuust out of the way enough to be inconvenient.) But since I loved the bacon so much, I’m definitely going to make it a point to try the sausage.

November Goals

It’s been a while since I’ve set any sort of monthly goals…a long while.  Today that changes.  I know myself well enough to know that even if I don’t reach all my goals, setting some goals does me more good and keeps me more focused than not setting them at all.  I’m keeping it pretty simple this month.

Food Goals

My food goals focus on getting back to more meatless meals.  This is something I’ve been really lazy about recently.

Vegetarian dinners 3 times a week
Vegan dinners 1 time a week

Fitness Goals

Run 8 times
Lift heavy things 10 times

Life Goals

Complete 2 craft projects
Study 20 minutes 2 days a week

I’ll be tracking my goals with here.  Feel free to check in on me!
